Ingredients

  • 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp mustard (yellow or Dijon)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • salt to taste

Equipment

  • large skillet or pot
  • wooden spoon
  • measuring cups
  • knife for prepping ingredients

Method

  1. In a large skillet or pot, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
  2. Add beef broth, milk, diced tomatoes, and tomato paste. Stir to combine.
  3. Add uncooked pasta and bring to a gentle boil.
  4. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.
  5. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
  6. Add shredded cheese and stir until melted and creamy.
  7. Fold in crumbled bacon and mix well.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning, then serve warm with optional toppings.

Notes

Stir occasionally while simmering to prevent sticking. Use freshly shredded cheese for smoother melting. Add a splash of milk when reheating to maintain creaminess. Don’t overcook the pasta, as it continues to soften in the sauce.
