Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken wings (split into flats and drumettes)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 cup hot sauce (optional)
  • 1/4 cup melted butter (optional)
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional)
  • fresh parsley (optional garnish)
  • ranch or blue cheese dressing (for serving)

Equipment

  • grill preheated to medium heat
  • tongs for turning wings
  • mixing bowl for seasoning wings
  • paper towels for drying wings
  • meat thermometer to check internal temperature

Method

  1. Preheat your grill to medium heat (about 375°F) and clean and oil the grates.
  2. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to help them crisp up.
  3. Toss the wings with olive oil, then season evenly with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
  4. Place wings on the grill in a single layer and cook for 20–25 minutes, turning every 5 minutes.
  5. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F and the skin is crispy and lightly charred.
  6. If using sauce, mix hot sauce, melted butter, and honey, then toss wings immediately after grilling.
  7. Serve hot with garnish and dipping sauce if desired.

Notes

For best results, always pat the wings dry before seasoning. Keep the grill lid closed for even cooking and turn wings frequently to prevent burning. Add sauce at the end to avoid flare-ups. Let wings rest a few minutes before serving for maximum juiciness.
