Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen mango chunks
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp matcha powder
  • 2 tbsp hot water
  • 1 cup milk of choice
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • fresh mango slices (optional garnish)
  • matcha dusting (optional garnish)
  • coconut flakes (optional garnish)

Equipment

  • blender
  • tall glass
  • small bowl
  • matcha whisk or frother
  • spoon

Method

  1. Add mango chunks, honey, and water to a blender. Blend until smooth.
  2. Spoon the mango puree into the bottom of a tall glass.
  3. Fill the glass with ice cubes.
  4. Slowly pour the milk over the ice.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk matcha powder with hot water until smooth and frothy.
  6. Gently pour the prepared matcha over the milk layer.
  7. Stir before drinking or enjoy the layered presentation first.
  8. Garnish with mango slices or coconut flakes if desired.

Notes

Use ripe mangoes for the sweetest flavor and sift the matcha powder before whisking to avoid clumps. Oat milk creates an extra creamy texture, while coconut milk adds a tropical flavor boost. Pour the matcha slowly over the back of a spoon for clean layers. The mango puree can be prepared up to 3 days ahead and refrigerated in an airtight container.
