Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp culinary-grade matcha powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp extra matcha powder for dusting

Equipment

  • 8x8-inch baking pan
  • parchment paper
  • large mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • rubber spatula
  • sifter

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined and slightly glossy.
  4. Sift in the flour, matcha powder, and salt. Fold gently until no dry streaks remain.
  5. Stir in white chocolate chips if using.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  7. Bake for 22–26 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft.
  8. Cool completely before slicing into squares. Dust with extra matcha powder if desired.

Notes

Use culinary-grade matcha for the best flavor and vibrant color. Avoid overmixing the batter to keep the brownies soft and fudgy. Let them cool completely before slicing for cleaner cuts. Store chilled for an even denser texture, or warm slightly before serving with vanilla ice cream.
