Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp matcha powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 12-14 Oreo cookies, roughly crushed
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional)

Equipment

  • mixing bowls
  • whisk
  • electric mixer
  • baking sheet
  • parchment paper
  • cookie scoop

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, matcha powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy and smooth.
  4. Add egg and vanilla extract and mix until fully combined.
  5. Slowly add dry ingredients into wet mixture and stir until a soft dough forms.
  6. Fold in crushed Oreo cookies and white chocolate chips if using.
  7. Scoop dough onto prepared baking sheet, spacing evenly apart.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are set and centers are soft. Cool completely before serving.

Notes

Use high-quality matcha powder for the brightest green color and best flavor. Chill the dough for 20–30 minutes for thicker cookies. Avoid overbaking to keep the centers soft and chewy. Try mint Oreos, dark chocolate chunks, or pretzels for fun variations. Cookies can be frozen baked or unbaked for up to 2 months.
